WE ARE ARCTIC BUYING

In 2010 a conversation between Dorothy and Tara Tootoo Fotheringham occurred after a change from the “Food Mail” program to the Nutrition North Canada Program. This change meant that people in the Kivalliq Region (Arviat, Whale Cove, Rankin Inlet, Chesterfield Inlet, Baker Lake, Naujaat and Coral Harbour) could NOW order goods from the south and receive the subsidy directly. This was a practice offered in the Baffin region but not in the Kivalliq Region up until 2010. The Food Mail subsidy was offered to the Retailers in the Kivalliq but not to the individual customers.

In April of 2011 the relationship between Arctic Buying Kivalliq and Arctic Buying Company (WPG) was established. The goal of the relationship was to partner with Clifford Caners on his knowledgeable area of the Food Industry in Commercial and Retail with the Knowledge of the Customers and communities with Dorothy and Tara Tootoo Fotheringham

We help all our customers by acting like a ONE-STOP-SHOP purchasing goods so that they can function on the daily basis of day to day life without worry.

We bring our southern pricing to our customers in remote communities by coordinating orders for various vendors of choice within Winnipeg and abroad and fulfill the needs right from the research, purchase, packing and shipping to destination communities all through Nunavut!

In 2019, we expanded by purchasing our own fleet of trailers to haul goods to Thompson Manitoba. We are happy to be able to grow by offering our road to rail service to Churchill Manitoba as well. This also gives us the advantage to haul freight for sealift.

We also provide a Parcel Expediting Service, so our customers can shop online and have the orders shipped to our distribution/receiving warehouse where we can amalgamate your orders to eliminate unwanted waste being more (eco-friendly), and ensure your parcels arrive in a more timely fashion (weather permitting).

We are always looking to expand our network, and offer the same services to the communities in Northern and Central Manitoba!
